Heart scarring test could guide Life-Saving surgery before symptoms appear

NCT ID NCT03094143

Summary

This study is testing if performing heart valve replacement surgery earlier than current guidelines recommend can improve outcomes for patients with severe aortic stenosis. It focuses on patients who have no symptoms but show early signs of heart muscle scarring on an MRI scan. The goal is to see if acting on this scarring evidence leads to fewer hospitalizations and deaths compared to waiting for symptoms to develop.
