Brain scan may spot cancer treatment success in just two days

NCT ID NCT02902757

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether a special type of brain scan (FDG PET/CT) could detect if chemotherapy was working in glioblastoma patients within 48 hours of starting treatment. Researchers wanted to see if early changes in how the tumor uses sugar (glucose), visible on the scan, could predict the patient's long-term response and survival. The study involved just 7 patients and aimed to gather information, not to provide a new treatment.
