New PET technique may solve brain scan dilemma

NCT ID NCT05762172

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tested whether a special type of PET scan (F-DOPA) taken very soon after injection can help doctors tell the difference between a brain tumor coming back and damage from radiation therapy. Eight adults with brain metastases who were already scheduled for this PET scan took part. The goal was to see if early images could improve diagnosis when standard MRI is unclear.
