Injections tested to stop stimulant psychosis from becoming chronic

NCT ID NCT03485417

Summary

This study tested whether giving long-acting injectable antipsychotic medications early could help people with stimulant-induced psychosis. Researchers compared two injectable drugs (aripiprazole and paliperidone) against standard treatment in 165 participants in Hong Kong. The goal was to better control psychotic symptoms and potentially prevent the condition from developing into a more chronic, disabling state like schizophrenia.
