E-cigs plus coaching may help mentally ill smokers cut harm

NCT ID NCT06543407

First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving e-cigarettes to smokers with mental illness—who have tried to quit before but aren't ready now—helps them switch away from regular cigarettes. Half of the 250 participants will also get behavioral support via telehealth. The goal is to reduce tobacco-related harm, not necessarily to quit nicotine entirely.
