Hidden breathing issues in high blood pressure patients may affect balance and exercise
NCT ID NCT06916923
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This completed study looked at 50 adults with high blood pressure to see if dysfunctional breathing (abnormal breathing patterns) is related to how well they can exercise and keep their balance. Participants filled out a breathing questionnaire and performed balance and walking tests. The goal was to better understand these connections, not to test a new treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If the findings show clear links, they could help doctors better understand breathing problems in people with high blood pressure and design better rehab programs.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed observational study—it does not test any treatment. The results may not apply to all people with hypertension, and no cause-and-effect conclusions can be drawn.
