New hope for lung cancer patients: immunotherapy drug durvalumab tested after chemoradiation

NCT ID NCT06992609

First seen Nov 01, 2025

Summary

This study tests the drug durvalumab as a consolidation (follow-up) treatment for people with limited-stage small cell lung cancer whose cancer has not grown after chemoradiation. About 70 participants in Spain will receive durvalumab every 4 weeks for up to 24 months. The goal is to see how safe and effective this treatment is in a real-world setting, including patients who may not have been eligible for earlier trials.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

durvalumab (an immunotherapy drug)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could confirm durvalumab as a standard follow-up treatment to help keep limited-stage small cell lung cancer from returning after initial chemoradiation.

What could go wrong

This is a single-arm, open-label study with only 70 participants, so results may not apply broadly. Immunotherapy can cause immune-related side effects, and the drug may not improve outcomes for all patients.

Conditions

The condition(s) this trial relates to.
