Which treatment works best for Dupuytren's? major trial aims to find out

NCT ID NCT03192020

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compares three treatments for Dupuytren's contracture, a hand condition that causes fingers to bend inward. The treatments are needle fasciotomy (a quick in-office procedure), collagenase injection (a drug that breaks up the tight cord), and surgery (limited fasciectomy). The trial involves 302 adults with at least 20 degrees of finger bending. The goal is to see which approach is most cost-effective and provides the best long-term results.

Active substance

Collagenase Clostridium Histolyticum (CCH) injection

What this could lead to

If this trial succeeds, it could identify the most effective and cost-efficient treatment for Dupuytren's contracture, helping patients and doctors choose the best option.

What could go wrong

This is a phase 4 trial, but results are still pending. The best treatment may depend on individual patient factors, and not all patients may respond equally to each approach.
