Can eczema patients safely take less dupilumab? new trial aims to find out
NCT ID NCT05642208
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether people with atopic dermatitis (eczema) that has been well-controlled for at least six months can safely take dupilumab less often. About 256 teens and adults will either stick with their usual every-two-week injection or gradually space out doses. The goal is to see if the step-down approach keeps the disease under control just as well over one year.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Dupilumab
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that patients with well-controlled atopic dermatitis can safely take dupilumab less often while still keeping symptoms under control.
What could go wrong
This is a Phase 4 trial, so dupilumab is already approved. The main question is whether reducing the dose will cause a flare-up in some patients. Results may not apply to those with more severe or uncontrolled disease.
