New hope for less painful knee replacements?

NCT ID NCT05086393

Summary

This study tested if the medication duloxetine could help reduce pain and the need for opioid painkillers after total knee replacement surgery. It involved 241 adults having knee replacement for arthritis, including some with a condition that makes them extra sensitive to pain. Patients were randomly assigned to receive either duloxetine or a placebo for several weeks after their operation to compare their pain levels and medication use.
