Antidepressant trial aims to ease IBD suffering

NCT ID NCT07431606

Summary

This study is testing whether the antidepressant medication duloxetine can help reduce psychological distress and improve daily functioning in adults with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Thirty-two participants with elevated anxiety, depression, or IBD-related disability will take duloxetine daily for six weeks while tracking their symptoms. The goal is to see if this medication is tolerable and shows early signs of helping with the gut-brain connection in IBD.
