First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jul 22, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether taking three cholesterol-lowering drugs together works better than taking two in people with type 2 diabetes and high LDL cholesterol. 126 adults aged 35-60 will be split into three groups: one gets rosuvastatin plus ezetimibe, another gets bempedoic acid plus ezetimibe, and the third gets all three drugs. The goal is to see which combination lowers LDL cholesterol most safely over 12 weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Rosuvastatin, Ezetimibe, Bempedoic Acid
- What this could lead to
- If triple therapy works better, it could offer a more effective way to lower cholesterol in people with diabetes, reducing heart disease risk.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, short-term study (12 weeks) with only 126 participants. Results may not apply to everyone, and adding a third drug could increase side effects.
