New eye drops aim to soothe dry eyes with fewer doses
NCT ID NCT07422259
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This completed study tested whether Reinnerva/Lubristil+G eye drops work better than Vismed for people with dry eyes. Forty adults with dry eye symptoms used one drop in each eye twice daily (Reinnerva/Lubristil+G) or four times daily (Vismed) for 60 days. Researchers measured tear production, tear film stability, and symptom scores to see which drop provided more relief.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Reinnerva/Lubristil+G sterile eye drops (artificial tears)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a more convenient option for relieving dry eye symptoms with fewer daily applications.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed post-market study with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It compares two artificial tears, not a new treatment.
