Drones vs. boats: can flying meds beat HIV in Uganda's islands?

NCT ID NCT06678022

First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether delivering HIV medication by drone to people living in remote fishing communities on Uganda's islands can help more people achieve an undetectable viral load compared to standard delivery methods. About 1,086 adults and teens on antiretroviral therapy will take part, with blood tests and questionnaires every six months for two years. The goal is to see if drones improve medication access and viral suppression in hard-to-reach areas.
