First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a drama-based coloring storybook called "Alican's Brave Journey" to see if it helps children aged 6-9 feel less fear, anxiety, and pain before and after surgery. 72 children having circumcision will be randomly assigned to either read the storybook or receive standard care. Researchers will measure their fear, anxiety, and pain using simple child-friendly scales.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- drama-based coloring storybook
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a simple, non-drug way to help children feel less scared and uncomfortable before surgery.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with only 72 children, so results may not apply to all kids. The storybook is given just once, so its effects may be limited.
