Morning-After pill for STIs? study tests antibiotic to block infections
NCT ID NCT07500415
Summary
This study is testing if taking a single dose of the antibiotic doxycycline after sex can prevent bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs) like syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. It involves 200 men who have sex with men, transgender women, and travestis in Rio de Janeiro who are living with HIV or taking HIV prevention pills. Participants who choose to use this strategy will take the pill after sex and be followed for about a year to see if it reduces new STIs, is safe, and is used correctly.
