Summary

This study looked at whether having a doula (a trained birth supporter) improves how Black mothers communicate with their doctors and feel about their care. Thirty Black pregnant people at the University of Kansas Medical Center took surveys at three points during and after pregnancy. The goal was to see if doula-enhanced care leads to better experiences and outcomes.
