Could a quicker chemo beat breast cancer better?
NCT ID NCT05728268
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing whether giving chemotherapy on a faster schedule (called dose-dense) works better for women with a common type of breast cancer (HR+/HER2-) that grows quickly (high Ki67). About 64 women will receive the faster chemo before surgery to see if it reduces the amount of cancer left behind. The goal is to find out who benefits most from this approach.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
dose-dense nab-paclitaxel followed by EC (a type of chemotherapy given on a faster schedule)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that a faster chemotherapy schedule helps shrink tumors more effectively in certain breast cancer patients, potentially lowering recurrence risk.
What could go wrong
This is a small phase 2 trial with only 64 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The faster schedule may also cause more side effects like fatigue or low blood counts.
