Extra injection may ease wisdom tooth pain

NCT ID NCT07296926

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether adding a small numbing injection on the tongue side of the gum can reduce pain during wisdom tooth extraction. 120 healthy adults will receive either the standard numbing shot or the standard shot plus the extra injection. Pain during the procedure will be measured using a simple 0-10 scale.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

distolingual infiltration (extra numbing injection)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a simple way to reduce pain during wisdom tooth removal.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial. The extra injection may not provide meaningful pain relief, and results may not apply to all patients.
