Laser procedure could offer new hope for pseudoexfoliation glaucoma patients
NCT ID NCT07401290
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a non-invasive laser procedure called direct selective laser trabeculoplasty (DSLT) in 40 adults with pseudoexfoliation glaucoma. The goal is to see if the laser can safely lower eye pressure by at least 20% at 6 and 12 months. Participants will have their eye pressure measured after stopping any glaucoma medications.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Direct selective laser trabeculoplasty (DSLT) - a non-invasive laser procedure to improve fluid drainage in the eye
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this laser treatment could offer a safe, non-drug option to control eye pressure in people with pseudoexfoliation glaucoma.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with only 40 participants and no comparison group. The results may not apply to all patients, and the procedure may not work for everyone.
