App-Based rehab for knee pain: could your phone replace the physio?
NCT ID NCT07544940
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests a 6-week digital health program delivered through a smartphone app for people with patellofemoral pain (knee pain). 40 adults will either use the app or follow a self-guided exercise program. The goal is to see if the app improves knee function and reduces pain better than doing exercises on your own.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
digital health program (smartphone app)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a convenient, app-based way to manage knee pain and improve daily function without needing in-person therapy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 40 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The app-based approach may not work as well as hands-on care.
