New DNA test could spot leukemia resistance earlier

NCT ID NCT07158294

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study will test whether a highly sensitive genetic test called digital PCR can detect drug-resistant mutations in people with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) as well as the current standard method. Researchers will analyze blood samples from 150 adults with CML whose current treatment is not working well. If digital PCR proves effective, it could help doctors switch therapies faster and more accurately.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a faster, more sensitive way to detect drug-resistant mutations in CML patients, helping doctors choose the right treatment sooner.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage diagnostic study, not a treatment trial. The new method may not prove as reliable as existing tests, and results may not change patient outcomes directly.
