First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study tested two different at-home digital treatments for chronic pain in rural America. 330 people with long-term pain were randomly assigned to either a virtual reality (VR) program or a self-guided online course called painTRAINER. Researchers tracked pain levels, daily function, and medication use over 8 weeks to see which approach worked better and for whom.
