NCT ID NCT05443750
First seen Jul 01, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026
Summary
This study tests a digital program designed to help young adults (ages 18-28) who are not in college and live in disadvantaged communities reduce risky drinking. The program combines a brief motivational interview with a session that encourages engagement in enjoyable, alcohol-free activities. Participants use a web-based platform to track their drinking and receive support. The goal is to see if this approach can lower the number of drinks per week and reduce alcohol-related problems over 6 to 12 months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Motivational Behavioral Economic Alcohol Intervention
What this could lead to
If successful, this digital approach could offer a scalable, low-cost way to reduce risky drinking and its negative consequences in young adults who are not in college.
What could go wrong
The trial is relatively large but relies on self-reported drinking, which may not be fully accurate. The effect may be modest and not generalize to all communities.
