First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a digital exercise program using video games (exergames) can improve quality of life and physical function in older adults with mild cognitive impairment living in care homes. Thirty-eight participants will either play exergames or do standard physiotherapy for six weeks. Researchers will measure changes in mobility, balance, thinking skills, and daily independence.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a fun, low-cost way to help older adults with mild cognitive impairment stay mobile and independent longer.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study (38 people) that hasn't started yet. Results may not apply to everyone, and the benefits might not last beyond the program.
