New biomarkers sought to distinguish child arthritis types

NCT ID NCT03827759

First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026

Summary

This study aimed to find new biological markers (like proteins and immune signals) in blood and joint fluid that can help doctors tell the difference between septic arthritis (caused by infection) and juvenile idiopathic arthritis (an inflammatory condition) in children. Researchers planned to analyze samples from 100 children under 15 with acute arthritis. The study was terminated early, so results are limited.
