First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looks at whether taking dietary nitrate (found in beets) can protect muscle size, strength, and energy use when a leg is immobilized in a brace for 14 days. Twenty-four healthy young men will wear a knee brace and take either nitrate or a placebo. The goal is to see if nitrate can reduce muscle wasting and energy problems that often happen with disuse.
