Can changing your diet help control a serious liver disease?

NCT ID NCT04678219

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether two special diets could help people with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), a serious autoimmune liver disease. Twenty participants followed either a Specific Carbohydrate Diet or a vegan/low-sulfur diet for 8 weeks, with support from dietitians and food stipends. Researchers measured changes in gut bacteria diversity and liver enzyme levels to see if diet could influence disease activity.
