Scientists test if counting more than just carbs can tame teen diabetes spikes

NCT ID NCT07158385

Summary

This study aimed to understand how the protein and fat in a meal, not just carbohydrates, affect blood sugar levels in teenagers with type 1 diabetes. Researchers fed 11 teens different test meals and monitored their blood sugar for six hours to see if adjusting insulin for protein and fat content led to better control. The goal was to gather knowledge to improve future meal-time insulin dosing strategies.
