Anti-Inflammatory diet tested as long COVID fatigue fix for seniors
NCT ID NCT05977179
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether following a healthy US-style diet rich in anti-inflammatory foods can reduce fatigue and improve muscle and physical function in adults aged 50 and older with long COVID. Over 16 weeks, participants are randomly assigned to either receive personalized diet plans and weekly sessions or attend general health sessions. The goal is to see if a whole-diet approach can ease lingering symptoms after COVID-19.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- healthy US-style anti-inflammatory diet
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a simple dietary approach to ease fatigue and improve physical function in older adults with long COVID.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small early-stage trial with only 56 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Diet changes can be hard to stick with, and the effect may be modest.
