Can a Pre-Surgery diet make Weight-Loss operations safer?

NCT ID NCT04942093

Summary

This study is testing if following a specific low-calorie, high-protein diet for about a month before weight-loss (bariatric) surgery makes the operation easier and safer. The diet aims to shrink the liver and reduce belly fat, which can help the surgeon during the procedure. Researchers will enroll 200 patients to see if this diet helps reduce surgery time, complications, and hospital stays while ensuring patients don't lose too much muscle or become malnourished.
