NCT ID NCT03352687
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a specific nerve block for shoulder surgery causes temporary paralysis of the diaphragm, the main breathing muscle. 84 adults having arthroscopic shoulder surgery received a suprascapular and axillary nerve block. Researchers measured diaphragm movement with ultrasound before and after the block. The goal was to see if this approach reduces breathing problems compared to standard blocks.
