First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study aims to grow diaphragm muscle cells in the lab from tissue removed during surgery for endometriosis. Researchers will compare these cells to arm muscle cells to find unique features of the diaphragm. This tool may help develop new therapies for severe neuromuscular diseases like ALS, which often cause death by weakening the breathing muscles. The study involves 10 adults undergoing diaphragm surgery for endometriosis.
