New study probes why some babies develop eczema: Self-Antibodies under the microscope

NCT ID NCT07316465

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether babies born with certain self-reactive antibodies are more likely to develop eczema. Researchers will test umbilical cord blood from 500 newborns—some with a family history of allergies or eczema, some without—and follow them for two years. The goal is to understand when and why these antibodies appear and if they can predict eczema.
