First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested whether artificial intelligence (AI) can help doctors better predict how diabetic retinopathy (an eye disease caused by diabetes) will progress. Over 3,000 adults with diabetes had their eyes imaged and were followed for about 2 years. The goal was to create a system that uses AI and patient data to improve predictions and treatment decisions, replacing older methods that are less accurate.
