Bridging the gap: new program aims to get Life-Changing diabetes tech to underserved kids

Summary

This study aims to see if helping lower-income families overcome insurance and access barriers to get advanced diabetes technology improves blood sugar control in children with type 1 diabetes. It will enroll 50 children and adolescents from diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds who have suboptimal diabetes control. Researchers will provide assistance obtaining FDA-approved closed-loop insulin delivery systems and continuous glucose monitors, then measure changes in blood sugar time-in-range and quality of life over 3-6 months.
