Can fellow patients help black men beat diabetes?
NCT ID NCT05370781
Summary
This study is testing whether adding peer support helps Black men better manage type 2 diabetes. All 48 participants receive standard diabetes education. Half also get 6 months of monthly support sessions led by trained Black men who also have diabetes, followed by 6 months of group-chosen activities. Researchers will track changes in blood sugar, medication adherence, weight, blood pressure, and quality of life over 18 months to see if the extra support makes a difference.
