Temporary gut implant aims to tame diabetes and shed pounds

NCT ID NCT07417683

Summary

This study is testing a new, temporary implant called the Trans-Duodenal Barrier. Doctors place it in the stomach and small intestine using a camera tube (endoscopy) to see if it helps lower blood sugar and promote weight loss in adults with type 2 diabetes and obesity. The implant stays in for 6 months and is then removed. Researchers will follow 126 participants to measure changes in diabetes control, weight, and safety.
