Could diabetes age your heart faster?
NCT ID NCT01536808
Summary
This study aimed to understand if type 2 diabetes speeds up aging in the body, which might increase the risk of developing a specific heart muscle problem called diabetic cardiomyopathy. Researchers studied 150 middle-aged adults with well-managed type 2 diabetes but no current heart symptoms. They looked at blood markers of cellular aging and used heart imaging to see if these markers could predict future heart issues.
