New study explores best diabetes treatment for black patients

Summary
This study looks at how two types of diabetes medicines affect the pancreas in Black patients with type 2 diabetes. About 60 adults will take either a GLP-1 receptor agonist or an SGLT-2 inhibitor for 16 weeks. The goal is to see which drug better helps the pancreas make insulin, since Black patients may have a unique ability to recover insulin production.
