First seen Apr 09, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tests if giving dextromethorphan (a cough suppressant) before knee replacement surgery can reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers afterward. About 160 adults will receive either the drug or a placebo. The goal is to see if this simple, low-cost approach can improve recovery and cut down on opioid use.
