First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests whether a nasal spray containing dexmedetomidine can safely sedate adults before surgery when little monitoring is available. About 564 participants will receive either the spray or a placebo 45 minutes before anesthesia. Researchers will track breathing and heart problems, how well the spray works, and recovery quality.
