First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests if a sedative called dexmedetomidine can lower the chance of delirium (sudden confusion) in critically ill children who need a breathing tube for over 12 hours. About 266 children will get either dexmedetomidine or the standard drug midazolam. The goal is to see if dexmedetomidine helps keep kids more clear-headed during their ICU stay.
