Calming kids after surgery: new study tests drug to ease Post-Operative distress

NCT ID NCT04928391

Summary

This study is testing if a single dose of a medication called dexmedetomidine can help reduce agitation and pain when children wake up from cleft palate repair surgery. It will compare the drug against a placebo (saltwater) in 60 children aged 1 to 7 years. The main goal is to see if the medication helps kids wake up more calmly and comfortably after their operation.
