New pain combo may ease recovery after heart surgery

Summary

This study tested whether adding dexmedetomidine to a standard numbing medicine (bupivacaine) in nerve blocks could provide better pain relief after heart surgery. Sixty adults having open-heart surgery through a chest incision received the nerve block. The main goal was to see how long the pain relief lasted. The study is complete and aims to improve comfort after surgery.
