First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study looks at how the steroid dexamethasone affects levels of the painkiller bupivacaine in the blood when given with a nerve block for shoulder surgery. Forty adults will receive the nerve block with dexamethasone either near the nerve or through a vein. Blood samples will be taken over several hours to compare drug levels and see how long pain relief lasts.
