AI and spit tests could spot gum disease without the Dentist's probe
NCT ID NCT07406867
First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study aims to see if simpler, less invasive methods like taking mouth photos, answering a questionnaire, or testing saliva can accurately detect gum disease (gingivitis and periodontitis). Researchers will compare these methods to the standard full-mouth dental exam in 2,000 adults across five centers. If successful, these tools could make screening for gum disease faster, easier, and more accessible.
