Skin graft trial for diabetic foot ulcers halted early
NCT ID NCT06455475
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested a processed human skin graft called Derm-Maxx to see if it helps heal chronic diabetic foot ulcers faster. The trial planned to include 120 adults with diabetes and foot sores, but it was terminated early. Because it stopped early, we don't have enough data to know if Derm-Maxx is effective.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Derm-Maxx (a processed human skin graft used to cover and help heal wounds)
What this could lead to
If it worked, Derm-Maxx could offer a new option to help heal stubborn diabetic foot ulcers faster.
What could go wrong
The trial was terminated early, so we don't have clear evidence it works. It may not be better than standard care, and skin grafts carry risks like infection or rejection.
