First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tested a non-drug treatment called repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for depression in people over 60. The treatment uses magnetic pulses to stimulate brain areas linked to mood, aiming to reduce symptoms with few side effects. Researchers compared real rTMS to a sham (fake) treatment in 108 older adults with major depression to see if it works.
