New hope for kidney patients battling depression

NCT ID NCT04422652

Summary

This study is testing two new treatment strategies for depression in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Researchers will compare a 16-week program of either a specific type of talk therapy (delivered remotely) or a non-SSRI antidepressant medication, with the option to add the other treatment if needed. The goal is to see if these approaches can safely reduce depression symptoms and improve quality of life, fatigue, and sleep for 201 adults with moderate-to-severe CKD and major depression.
